Checked out Canteen this morning for the first time for brunch, and Canteen did not disappoint. I had the salty dog to drink, the lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries, and our table shared the corn fritters. Everything was so delicious! The food was reasonably priced and high-quality, just like the service. We cannot wait to come back and check out dinner. Reservations are definitely recommended.

This place is great, operated by the same people that run the legendary Red Ox Inn. This is upscale, not a greasy spoon. I had my favorite brunch in Edmonton here, fresh biscuits with homemade sausage, eggs and gravy. It was a perfect plate of food. They do comfort food with a gourmet touch and use high quality ingredients. The service has always been excellent. One of the best places to eat in the Oliver/124 street area.

Amazing service! Amazing food! Relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Drove from Spruce Grove and was worth the drive and will be back!

Nice place nice staff, amazing food and a well stocked bar with knowledgeable bartenders. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because they ran out of sambuca.

Love the food here! Just wish the online menu was updated a little more quickly. Though, I've never been disappointed with the quality of food

Friendly service and clean space. We came on a Sunday around 10:30, and it was surprisingly not too busy. No lines. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and spring salad. The salad dressing was delicious. The avocado toast was okay. Would come back to try other menu items.

Attended a private event and the staff hit it out of the park. They were incredibly attentive and looked very comfortable working the large group. The space was well suited for our Christmas party and the food was spectacular

There are two places in Edmonton I love for brunch and Canteen is one of them. The chicken waffles and the dutch pancake is great. I tried other dishes and and they are excellent as well.

Great little restaurant. Our meals were fantastic. We went early in the evening so the place was pretty empty when we arrived bit started to fill by the time we left. The service was wonderful, never pushy but always prompt.

I was excited to finally try this place but unfortunately I was disappointed with the service and the food. The four of us had to wait half an hour for a table even though we made a reservation. All the couples behind us got asked to order, and was served food way before we were. The server didn't ask us whether we would like refill for coffee or water, or check with us if the food was good or not. The presentation of the food was good but they were either too salty or just had a lot sugar/syrup for our taste. Maybe our expectation was too high because of the good things we've heard about this place. Would never go back again.

We went here for brunch on a Sunday, had the braised short rib dish, chicken and waffles. The beef dish was amazing the chicken and waffles were good, I would ask for more syrup if I ever got this again waffles were slightly dry, but still tasty. I also had a latte which was perfect. The one thing that I must say is the service is outstanding!

I took my girl friend there for her birthday last night and we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere, music and our lovely waitress were wonderful. The food speaks for itself. I read the menu online and knew what I was getting (crispy lamb shank). Upon looking at the menu in house, i could see that the accompaniments had changed and I honestly was a bit hesitant to go with the lamb. I talked to the waitress, asked her opinion on the dish (she said it was even better this way) and I went for it... So happy I did! We caught happy hour, so small plates were a bit cheaper and they also catered to my friends keto diet. We will most certainly be back!

This restaurant remains one of our city’s hidden gems. I’ve visited some of the ‘hyped’ restaurants that don’t compare with my experience here. Great atmosphere, attentive unpretentious service , consistently delicious food and great value. I’ve read many brunch reviews and I agree that the brunch is great but their dinners deserve more respect. Do yourself a favour and try this spot for dinner.

Voted best Brunch in the city and for good reason! The eggs Florentine are amazing and the crispy pork belly with brussel sprouts is out of this world. Definitely get a side of the candied bacon as well!

Great restaurant, consistenly been good since it first opened. Great option for Brunch in an awesome area you can stroll around in afterwards and fine lots of stuff. Simple area (desperately in need of a new makeover as feels so empty and dull now), but food speaks for itself. Service is very nice and friendly and lots of great options to dine on. Great for smaller groups as well, nice place where you can have a conversation not yelling at each other.

Really nice and casual, our waitress was fantastic and our food was so delicious. Be careful, the menu on the website isn’t always current so don’t try to pick ahead of time. Our table ordered almost one of every plate tonight and they were all fantastic. Definitely try the deep fried cauliflower as an appetizer. Also, I’ve never had a mule before *chef kiss*

Went for brunch. Quick and friendly service, reservation strongly recommended, food was delicious and the specials usually knock it out of the park. Coffees are delicious and have heard the same of not beeter of their dinner menu and service!

Modern intimate setting. French toast was light and fluffy. Not too heavy. As you can see the presentation is stunning! A bit on the pricey side.

The prawns and cauliflower tasters were delicious, great customer service and lovely environment

We tried their Family Style dinner for two yesterday (the loin of lamb with sausage, bacon and duck cassoulet) served with a spiced carrot salad and finished with an apricot panna cotta with almond streusel for dessert). Excellent meal. Great value. Wonderful combination. The restaurant usually offers another choice of family-style dinner. Bonus that their menu changes weekly. This was a curb-side pick up. The service was excellent (from start to finish). Dinner was brought out warm. The lady who handled the orders and arranged pick-up was very upbeat and positive. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and will definitely be returning.

Great for brunch! I ordered the pork belly and it was delicious. The braised ribs were good with the eggs and potato. We also ordered the their take on chicken and waffles. They also had their weekly specials. We ordered the bread pudding with potato pancakes and eggs. This place is not your average breakfast spot which is what I love. It is on the heavy side. I would go for brunch instead.

Canteen is honestly one of my favourite restaurants in all of Edmonton. They always have a small but delicious menu and have a very cool vibe. I find their brunch to be the best in Edmonton & very affordable for the quality of the food. I love to have my birthday supper here as well because the food is always amazing. If you haven’t already done so, definitely make a reservation to eat here soon <3

Amazing experience. Nice decor, amazing service, and even better food. I've never been done wrong by Canteen and can't recommend it enough.

I've been on the hunt for the best brunch spots in Edmonton for a few weeks now and Canteen did not disappoint. I ordered the Blueberry Lemon Flapjacks and they were delicious! My sweet tooth might have liked a little more accompanying syrup but my thighs thanked me afterwards for not asking for more. The Salty Dog cocktail I finished it off with was a nice touch.

I ordered the pork belly with fried eggs on polenta and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were very tasty. Everything else was okay. The pork belly was nothing special. It was dry and a bit salty. The polenta plain and unexciting. I expected more from Avenue Magazine's top pick for Brunches. It wasn't bad, but it is not enough to entice me to return. Service was good. Overall it is good, not great, not spectacular.

This is my new brunch stop, absolutely everything is good on the menu, I personally like the chicken and waffles best. The waiting staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Thank you guys for the great experiences! :)

Canteen is my very brunch restaurant in Edmonton. The service and quality of food is consistent. They have a small but tasty menu. I have never been for dinner but I would definitely recommend for breakfast!

Delicious food, I had the crusted pork belly and it was amazing. Partner had the porkchop and he was also very happy with his meal. I definitely recommend the chick pea fries as a starter they are awesome!!The servers were fast and very friendly. Also, I forgot my phone at the restaurant and the waitresses were wonderful when I came back.

Not too often I’ll post pics of half eaten dishes but couldn’t wait. First of all great service & attentiveness! Also received a friendly reminder about upcoming reservation. We ordered 3 dishes & all were delicious. The Dutch baby pancake with rhubarb compote & maple sage sausage is a must. The flavour of the sausage with the rhubarb is so tasty, begging for more. I ordered the special of smoked Arctic char with berry vinaigrette salad. Totally enjoyed the flavours. The third in our group chose the huevos canteenos with pulled pork , avocado, poached eggs,& pico de gallo. Another hit! Even though a one page menu for Sunday brunch, it makes it tough to decide. We will definitely be back 👍

Worth trying for brunch. The dinner is also good. If going there to try their breakfast offerings, the chicken and waffles are nice. There are lighter and healthier options as well like the granola bowl I had in my recent visit. The bacon is a must order as a side or to share.

The skin of lamb shank is burn, and the inside is tasteless. Also the pork belly is way too over-fried. Brussels sprout is decent and refreshing. Fried chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. The waffle is not that good tho...Service is great, but the food overall is a bit disappointed.

Just loved it. The service was great, atmosphere was nice and dining with a person with many allergies sometimes is difficult but they made sure everything was looked after, and it wasn’t a bother. Loved the spinach salad and the chicken and waffles was fantastic. Everything was fresh and tasty definitely going back

Service was quite slow. I didn’t enjoy the chicken and waffles much, the waffle could’ve been left in the cooker for another 30s to make it crispier on the outside. I prefer to have more sauce like gravy and maple syrup with my C&W so this one was a bit dry for me. My bf has the pork belly and the entire dish was put together very well. It was delicious. Did not appreciate that they don’t serve drip coffees.

Friend took me and she raved about this place. She loves it. I had the egg's florentine. The ambiance was fairly cafeteria-like with a brunch like clientele. I may have to try something a little different next time to find my wow factor. I saw a few more unique dishes on other tables that look worth trying. My meal was good, but not unique enough for me to go out of my way to return. I'd recommend trying something unique to them. Staff was friendly. Service good. There was a line. You can book reservations. I have only been there once. So consider that as well. They were voted best brunch.
